I was raised in an artistic household in Seattle Washington, my parents were both artists/makers. Our idea of family fun was spending Sunday mornings driving around the Seattle neighborhoods, admiring and critiquing landscaping, molding & casing proportions, pitch angles of roofs and color combinations of the passing homes.

After a stint in Paris, working as a graphic designer, I got a job working at Meriguet Carrere, the top decorative painting company in the world. There I was introduced to learning traditional French decorative arts, the examples of which I had only previously  seen in museums and palaces throughout Europe.

I eventually settled in New York, where I started a family, developed several painting companies, before, I am proud to say, becoming a member of the Uriu Nuance Family.

At Uriu Nuance we take great pride in our decorative arts internship program, teaching techniques that are rapidly disappearing and are in dire need of being preserved and celebrated, especially in this digital age.

So much of the arts is about discovering the self through doing every day, the doing reveals the soul little by little. This is key when working with clients. It’s our job to bring art into their homes, to imbue their living spaces with soul, to have their rooms reflect their sensibilities, to give voice to their inner visions, to make their dreams real.
