The technique of Gilding started in Turkey 8000 years ago during the Neolithic Period where it spread to other ancient civilizations like Egypt, where it was used to decorate pharaohs’ sarcophagi.

Gold’s significance is it symbolization of wealth, power, and divinity This architectural embellishment has adorned palaces and temples used by Egyptians during the time of Cleopatra, Phoenicians and early Europeans most notably during 18th century when Louis XIV advanced France’s leadership in the decorative arts.
